As a leading manufacturer and innovator of hearing aids, Sivantos’s philosophy revolves around improving the quality of life for people with hearing difficulties including tinnitus.
Signia’s Notch Therapy is the first of its kind in the world and exclusively integrated into Signia hearing aids with the primax platform. Notch Therapy is a well-researched and clinically proven tinnitus therapy approach that’s been shown to be especially effective for people who experience tonal tinnitus, the most common type of tinnitus.
Notch therapy can reduce the effects of tinnitus and may even make it disappear completely.* According to a recent study, 65 percent of patients experienced an improvement.
Removing the sounds of tinnitus for a truly peaceful experience
By permanently relegating the tinnitus sounds into the background over a long period, the brain ‘learns’ to no longer hear the tinnitus sounds, making life without tinnitus a real possibility.
To activate the therapy, the Hearing Care Professional first locates the frequency of the tinnitus after the hearing aid has been fitted and checks this in a re-test. Afterwards, the hearing aids can be adjusted in Connexx so that the tinnitus tone is harmoniously integrated in the rest of the soundscape.
In contrast to other tinnitus functions, no acoustic signals are provided. Instead, the frequency range of the tinnitus is not amplified in the usual way, without restricting good hearing and speech comprehension.
Tinnitus therapy with noise signals
By introducing an additional, pleasant sound, traditional therapy ‘covers’ the annoying tinnitus sounds, thus distracting the wearer from it.
With Notch Therapy, the tinnitus frequency is precisely defined. Amplification of the frequency is then reduced so that it is integrated harmoniously into the overall background sound. )
Notch Therapy and therapy signals can be activated in all Signia behind-the-ear and in-the-ear hearing aids of the primax platform.
